The area surrounding Harstad was important and strong during the Viking age and medieval times. You can get to know this region, from the stone age to this day, through the historical exhibition "1000 years with plow, cross and sword".
The experience of the exhibition is amplified through the use of a multimedia show, light and sound.
In addition to the museum, you will also find a living exhibition. The medieval farm shows live during the 12th century, by showing an authentic day to day life of tending the fields, crops and animals, a blacksmith and årestue (main living quarters).
