Harstad can be said to be the perfect base for your Northern Norwegian adventure. Nicely sheltered in Vågsfjorden Harstad can tempt you with a broad selection of culture, a wide range of quality dining and a unique proximity to nature. Here you find all you need. 

If you would still like to experience more of the region you will find it just a short journey from Harstad city center. For example; Tromsø is only a three hour boatride north of Harstad, and Svolvær - the capital of Lofoten is about two hour drive from Harstad. If you want to visit Polar Park - the worlds northernmost animal park you will find it less then a two hour drive from Harstad, and you can even make a detour to Narvik and be back in Harstad in time for dinner. The beautiful island of Senja can be reached in to hours by express boat, and Andørja - the island with most mountains in all of Norhtern Europe is only a ferry ride away. And, we must not forget to mention Vesterålen, with whalesafari from Andenes and the charming village of Nyksund.
