CELEBRATION CONCERT IN TORE HUND'S KINGDOM - NORWAY FOR 1000 YEARS

"Resources and wealth"

The Battle of Stiklestad in 1030 is one of the most symbolic events in Norwegian history. Olav Haraldsson's fall in the battle of Stiklestad and his canonization in Nidaros the following year had profound significance for the rise of the Norwegian kingdom politically, religiously, legally and culturally. The consequences constitute a national and international heritage on which Norwegian society is still built. Here, our region, with the chief Tore Hund from Bjarkøy and his family, plays a large and decisive role. The national anniversary "Norway for 1000 years" celebrates that Norway has existed as a kingdom for 1000 years. Harstad municipality and the surrounding region are involved in the anniversary work and have 2023 as the marking year. With the theme "Resources and wealth", we will highlight the story of Tore Hund's kingdom - and participate in the conversation about what Norway has been, is and will be in the future. We therefore invite you to a grand, outdoor concert on Bjarkøy!
