Umami is the latest addition to Harstad’s gourmet list. “Listed among the best restaurants in the Nordic region and were ranked Norway's best restaurant for 2017 by White Guide Nordic”. When Kim-Håvard Larsen and Sigrid Rafaelsen established the place on Havnegata in 2011, it arrived as a breath of fresh air. They were literally described as “the new wine” in Harstad’s restaurant environment. Literally, the word Umami means pleasant and savoury. And that is precisely what Umami has succeeded in creating. They are uncompromising in terms of the quality of their ingredients. Once this is ascertained, their main priority is to bring out the unique qualities and flavours of the ingredients in the best possible manner, without adding too much else to the mix. When combined with their artistic design, the dishes become a delight for the eyes, and a new experience for the palate. Umami has managed to introduce a new taste to Harstad’s unique gourmet landscape.
