Elgen is located at the outermost point of the little peninsula between Kasfjorden and Toppsundet. Drive over Aunfjellet (8 km northwest of Harstad) and take a left towards the intersectionwhen you reach the sea. Follow the road until you reach the chapel. Parking and starting point from Elgsneschapel. Cross the road and follow the tractor road upwards. After 500 metres it becomes a trail which leads back up the ridge of the mountain. Approx. 7 km return trip, estimated time to reach the top is about 1 - 1.5 hours. Fantastic view from the top, and one of Harstad’s best vantage points for viewing the midnight sun.
