After half a century in the music industry, he stands as a pillar in Norwegian music history and is an artist with whom several generations of Norwegians have a strong relationship. Even after a long and solid career, he is still relevant and able to renew his musical expression.
His work in psychiatry, and not least his background as a priest, has greatly influenced his songs, but also his ability to communicate them. Countless Norwegians have a close relationship with the popular songs, such as "Eg Ser" and "Cloudless sky". It is not without reason that he was recently referred to as the "king comforter" by Bergens Tidende. The close and painful themes are also reflected in Bjørn's concerts through personal stories that bear the stamp of both seriousness and humor. Bjørn has a unique ability to get close to his audience, and it is in meeting with the audience that the music and the stories get to shine the most and live on in new forms. Bjørn comes to Bakgården both with his well-known, beloved and melancholic melodies, in addition to his more rock repertoire. Since the start in 1971, he has released 28 albums, played approx. 80 concerts every year, published a book, had its own TV programme, radio program and took the stage at Det Norske Teatret with the self-written theater performance "Etterlyst: Jesus" - to name a few. Bjørn's curiosity for new musical expressions has led to many exciting collaborations with well-known artists from Norway, Sweden and Denmark over the years. The duet "Mysteriet deg" with Lisa Nilsson won the Spellemann prize for Song of the Year and has over 10 million plays on Spotify.
This spring, Bjørn Eidsvåg is highly topical with the feel good program Hver Gang Vi Møtes on TV2, which has already led to surprising interpretations.
