About
The Kyiv Chamber Choir is 21 amazing singers fighting to keep their spirits up in a war-torn city. The choir is a kind of national elite choir in Ukraine, and the singers are chosen from the very top shelf in a country that has a strong choral and vocal tradition. Kyiv Kammerkor was founded by Mykola Gobdych in the 90s when he wanted to revitalize the Orthodox liturgical music that had languished in the Soviet era. Mykola is still the choir's conductor. In addition to traditional Ukrainian church music, they have a spectacular folk music program in their repertoire. They are professionals when it comes to choreography and show tableaus of Ukrainian folk life during the concert. When they perform now during the war, it is in underground stations to strengthen unity and courage in a tired population. They had a fantastic tour to 15 cities in southern Norway in September 2022. It was organized in collaboration with the Norwegian Choral Association. Many have said afterwards that regardless of the genre, it is the best concert they have ever experienced. It means a lot to the choir to be able to represent Ukraine in other countries in these times. It is with pleasure - but also with humility - that we can invite you to a concert with the Kyiv Chamber Choir. In Harstad. In Trondenes church.
