28. september er det 30 år siden cruisefergen «Estonia» gikk ned i Østersjøen.

Den finske komponisten Jaakko Mäntyjärvi skrev i den forbindelse det prisbelønte stykket «Canticum Calamitatis Maritimae» til minne om de forulykkede. Stykket er skrevet med et utgangspunkt i den første nyhetsrapporten om katastrofen, som ble meldt fra den ukentlige latinspråklige nyhetstjenesten Nuntii latini. Verket ble ferdigstilt i 1997.

Vox Arctica fremfører dette stykket i tillegg til flere andre vakre og melankolske komposisjoner fra våre naboer i øst, som Jean Sibelius, Hugo Alfvèn og Karin Rehnquist m.fl.
